Why organisations work with me
I don't just teach the theory of trauma-informed care.
I teach relational-based, deeply attuned interactions with people who have experienced some of the highest levels of complex trauma in the UK. Whether you are a consultant gynecologist, midwifery lead, healthcare professional, GP or CEO of a charity, you will have encountered people with a range of acute trauma histories. Some of these people will never disclose this to you. This may also include ourselves or our colleagues. We need to meet these people humanly and intelligently in order to ensure that they are not inadvertently re-traumatised in our care. In order to do this, we as professionals need to understand our own responses and treat ourselves as deeply deserving of exceptional support and training.
I bring together over twenty-five years of frontline professional practice, academic research, programme development and lived experience to help health and social care professionals create services that feel safer for both the people they support and the professionals delivering care.

The Difference You'll Notice
Following training and consultancy, organisations commonly experience:
✓ Patients who feel safer, heard and more able to engage with care.
✓ Greater confidence delivering trauma-informed intimate examinations with consent, dignity and nervous system awareness.
✓ Reduced risk of unintentionally re-traumatising people during healthcare interactions.
✓ Staff who recognise survival responses and respond with confidence rather than uncertainty.
✓ More effective communication with people experiencing complex trauma, dissociation, fear, shame or emotional distress.
✓ Stronger therapeutic relationships, leading to improved engagement and trust.
✓ Practical strategies that reduce conflict, escalation and relational breakdown.
✓ Increased relational intelligence through a better understanding of secondary trauma, boundaries and nervous system regulation.
✓ Trauma-informed principles embedded into everyday practice, leadership and organisational culture, not simply understood in theory.

“Karen is great! She is so good at her job. This session was deep and impactful. I came away knowing that we can do our job safely and professionally AND make sure we are not taking abuse or racism in any form. The root of it is team support, self-respect and boundaries and I need to work on that in order to do my job. I loved everything.”
